Splash Park!

We all went to the splash park across the street from our house for the first time today. Tessa wasn't so sure about it all just yet:) There were a lot of big kids there that she enjoyed watching. She's just not quite brave enough to really play:) In any case we had fun and will definitely be there a lot this summer!!!

First Trip to the Dentist

Tessa had her first trip to the dentist this past week. She is only 23 months, but her teeth seemed long overdue for a cleaning! For some reason, Tessa just hates brushing her teeth. Josh and I have to chase her around the house and then we catch her, we have to pin her down in order to get the tooth brush in her mouth. She wiggles around the whole time and usually screams and cries. Even when I am able to get the brush in her mouth, her bottom teeth don't get much attention because she has this trick of putting her tongue over her teeth to where I can't get to them. Needless to say, Tessa had what I thought was some major decay on her teeth!

Well when we got to the dentist, I told her all of my concerns and kind of prepared her for what she was about to see. She looked around for a couple minutes and said that Tessa had no decay, just stained teeth. She said that some kids are prone to stain and Tessa must be one of them. That was a BIG relief for me! They sent me to the waiting room so that they could polish her teeth and make them look pretty:) Another mom was sitting out there with her kids and said Wow, someone's not happy. I told her that would be my child. Tessa was back in the back screaming bloody murder the whole time. All was well when they brought her out though. She had a purple kitty cat with whiskers, a smile on her face, and sparkling teeth!

New Niece and Nephew!

This is me with my newest nephew, Trevor. He is 4 weeks old and such a cutie! He is my 6th nephew!! He has an older brother named Jack, that Tessa just adores. Everywhere she goes she calls the boys we see Ah Jack:) It's really cute! We're excited to have them come visit us in 1 week! Like I mentioned earlier, Tessa has been the only girl born into our extended family until 2 days ago! Adelaide Kate was born and we can't wait to meet her:) I'm really excited for Tessa to have a little girl playmate:)

wisdom teeth

Oh how I have been dreading for years and years getting my wisdom teeth out. I guess that is why I'm 29 and still hadn't done it. Well, I probably would have kept putting it off, but one decided to pop through and I thought I better get these out before I turn up pregnant and then start having problems with them mid-way through. That would be no fun! So yesterday, Friday, was the big day. I was SO nervous! We left Tessa with the Robertson's...that was a huge help! Josh and I got there signed the release forms and the next thing I knew I was waking up and going home. I really didn't enjoy day 1. It was so hard to take all of the pain meds when you have gauze all up in your gums. The dentist said to leave that in when I ate or drank for the first day and I had a real problem with that! Day 2, though it's not good, is better and I hopefully have good clots. I am Starving and it's so hard for me to eat! I know I'm going to lose 5 pounds, which I'd rather not do, but I don't know what else to do....eating just sounds so unappealing right now. Well hopefully I'll make more progress each day and start feeling more comfortable. Thanks so much to Josh for keeping Tessa occupied and fed! I'm so glad it's Memorial Day weekend so that he gets to be home an extra day!!!

Ah Cakes

Tessa, you're new favorite food is pancakes. I was having the hardest time finding something that you would eat for breakfast so I decided to try pancakes. Now you're waking up each morning and the first thing I hear on the baby monitor is Ah Cakes. A few minutes after you start your pancake you say Ah More. Then lunch rolls around and I hear Ah Cakes again:) You have the funniest way to say things these days...everything has the Ah in front of it.... Ah Daddy, Ah Mommy, Ah Dirt ( means let's play in the sandbox ) , Ah ground ( means let's go to the playground.) Love you girlie!

Tessa's tough couple months!

Oh Tessa, we have had a real time of it lately! Between a broken tibia and 3 viruses in the past 7 weeks, you have seen your share of doctor's offices!! Thank you, baby girl, for being such a trooper. It was so hard seeing you hurt and not feeling well. I think this past week was the absolute most sick you have ever been. You had an awful chest cold that just lasted and lasted! Last Wednesday morning you woke up white as a ghost with dark circles under your eyes, and it scared me to death! Then, later that day, you proceeded to take a 5 hour nap so I realized why you looked the way you did...You were exhausted! Today, 8 days after the awful virus began, you are doing much better, praise God! One thing that came out of all of this is a sweet baby girl. Don't get me wrong, you've always been sweet, but you have never been a real touchy feely baby. You never wanted to be rocked, held on my lap for more than 5 seconds, or cuddled. Now you just love to sit with mommy and daddy and you even asked to be rocked before bed. All these months I thought that our glider was a waste of money. Thanks for changing that, Baby Girl!

My First Blog

So I'm officially a blogger! I never even thought about blogging until I became hooked on reading so many other people's blogs. I guess my main reason for wanting to blog is to keep a journal of all that goes in our daily lives. I know it will be so neat one day to look back at where we were in 2009 and be able to remember so many of the little things that we would have otherwise forgotten. I look forward to meeting new blogging friends and keeping up with old friends as well!
